The Electro-Harmonix Octavix is an octave-up/fuzztone pedal that recalls similar boxes from the late ’60s. Housed in EHX’s Nano package, it has controls for Volume, Boost, and Octave. A mini-toggle lets the player select between 9- or 24-volt power rails and determines the power-supply voltage for the entire circuit; when used with nine volts, the company says the pedal behaves like the classic, saggy fuzz box, while at 24 volts, it delivers a tighter sound and a richer octave tone. True-bypass wired, it runs on a 9-volt battery or EHX9.6DC power supply. Check it out at www.ehx.com.
