Nashville Pussy

For heavy-rock fans complaining that nobody makes good music anymore, meet Nashville Pussy.

This Atlanta-based band has been kicking ass since ’97. Creating a white-trash blend of AC/DC meets Lynyrd Skynyrd with a dash of ’70s Nugent, Nashville Pussy was formed by the husband-and-wife team Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys. Their new album is a 22-track compilation combining the best studio recordings of the last 10 years with a 2009 concert recorded in England.

Their raucous in-your-ace style will remedy any overexposure you may be suffering to delicate singing and wimpy guitar playing. With a hellacious stage persona, guitarists Cartwright and Suys get support from bassist Bonnie Buitrago, drummer Jeremy Thompson, and special guest Ron Heathman of the Supersuckers on guitar.

Mixing two parts industrial-strength rock and roll with one part dirty humor, Nashville Pussy spreads their trailer-park gospel with songs like “Before The Drugs Wear Off,” “The South’s Too Fat To Rise Again,” “Good Night For A Heart Attack,” and “Go Motherf***er Go.” Ruyter Suys is a highly skilled blues-rock guitarist in a bikini bra with Angus Young chops for days.
