Sammy Hagar is helping organize and promote “A Concert For Ronnie Montrose – A Celebration of His Life In Music,” April 27 at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisoc. The concert will feature the original Montrose lineup (Hagar, vocals; Bill Church, bass; Denny Carmassi, drums), performing the landmark first Montrose album with guest Joe Satriani on lead guitar. The original Gamma lineup (Davey Pattison, vocals; Glenn Letsch, bass; Carmassi, drums) will perform with Marc Bonilla on lead guitar. The lineup will also include a band composed of many of the musicians Montrose played with throughout his career, including Neal Schon and Steve Smith (Journey), members of Tesla, Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Rickie Philips (Styx), Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer (Kiss), Jimmy DeGrasso (Y&T) and Alice Cooper.

“One of my top priorities this year was a Montrose reunion,” said Hagar. “Ronnie and I planned to do it in Cabo in October. I am so sad it won’t happen, but on April 27, Joe, Denny, Bill, and I are going to play the hell out of some Montrose!”

Tickets for the event go on sale March 30 at AXS.com and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ronnie Montrose Fund for San Francisco Bay Area Musicians, through SweetRelief.org.
