Music Maker Relief Foundation, Baton Rouge Blues Foundation Team to Aid Musicians

Music Maker FoundationlogoThe Music Maker Relief Foundation has teamed with the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation to create the Baton Rouge Musicians Fund (BRMF), which will support musicians impacted by heavy rains and flooding that damaged more than 60,000 homes in that city. Its aid will key on stabilizing artists’ health and housing, followed by replacement of guitars and other instruments/equipment required for them to earn a living.

Among those supporting the effort is blues legend Taj Mahal.

“These musicians are the foundation of all popular music in the world,” he said. “When disaster turns on them, it is not time to turn our backs. Let’s show them the respect!”

The Music Maker Relief Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit that preserves and promotes musical traditions of the American South. It has been featured on PBS NewsHour, NPR Weekend Edition, and CBS Evening News. More information can be found at musicmaker.org/
