Guitarist Paul Nelson, former bandleader for Johnny Winter, is set to release a new album. Badass Generation, by The Paul Nelson Band, will launch February 5 and shows the artist retaining his connection to the blues but exhibiting other dimensions, from hard-edged rock and blues to acoustic-driven singer/songwriter fare. The band includes vocalist Morten Fredheim, bassist Christopher Alexander, and Chris Reddan on drums. Gov’t Mule keyboardist Danny Louis makes a cameo.
Nelson’s career has included turns performing and/or recording alongside a range of artists including Slash, Vince Gill, Joe Walsh, Warren, Haynes, Derek Trucks, Sonny Landreth, Edgar Winter, Leslie West, Susan Tedeshi, Joe Bonamassa, Dickey Betts, Rick Derringer, Brian Setzer, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, and others.
