Gibson Offers 50th Anniversary Thunderbird

Gibson has introduced the 50th Anniversary Thunderbird Bass. Like the original on which it is based, it has “through-neck” construction that pairs a mahogany neck to mahogany body wings. Its sound comes via a pair of T-Bird Bass pickups with ceramic magnets with individual Volume controls and a master Tone. The neck is carved to a rounded profile that measures .790” at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th, topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot markers. Its three-point bridge has individually adjustable saddles. The bass is dressed in a commemorative Bullion Gold nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a pickguard hot-stamped in gold with a T-Bird logo and “50th Anniversary 1963-2013,” and gold-colored Grover tuners.
