This amp has been serviced recently by Acme Guitars in St. Louis. It was also converted to use the more plentiful 6CZ5 power tubes rather than the rarer and more expensive 6973 set. The 6CZ5s that are in it now are NOS Sylvania. Speakers are original Jensens and date to 1965.
This amp is a screamer. Valcos are renowned for their great overdrive tone, but the ones designed for the 6973 tubes are the most sought after. Do some research and you'll see why. It has something to do with some obscure guitarist from a long-forgotten band named after a German airship.
