The U45B was originally a bass amp model that players discovered was perfect for guitar. Like all Univox of the period, it was made in Japan, but what sets this amp apart from a lot of other amps of that or any era is that it uses a funky 6BM8 pair of tubes in the power section. It is most certainly pumping out less than 12 Watts, but it ROARS!

It's all original other than a recent cap job by John Thornburg of River City Amps, who is the best around, by the way! Rounding out the tube compliment is a 12X7A and a 6X4 rectifier.

The tone of this amp really has to be experienced to be believed. I didn't even know this model existed until recently, but the more I research, the more I find it has a very justified cult following among people in the know about it's ungodly tone. It is probably the most revered Univox amp ever made.

Here is a demo I made of it using my iPhone. The sound quality could be better, but at least you'll get an idea what this little monster can do... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsx6IkzB2Ts&feature=youtu.be
