1940 HARMONY ARCHTOP GUITAR VINTAGE ORIGINAL (H973?)
$ 575.00
I recently came across this vintage 1940 Harmony Archtop guitar. It is in Excellent condition and even has the original purple felt case and some Gibson strings from the 50's. I can only assume 3 of the strings on the guitar are original because the Gibson String case in the picture is missing 2 strings that must have been used to replace broken ones. Inside is stamped S40 as you can clearly see in the pictures. Which means it was made in the Spring of 1940. I am not really sure of the "Model" Someone Said it was a Ridgeway H973. Which would be cool! Because then this was made in the first run of the first year they made the H973. It has minor wear and tear for a 73 year old guitar. Mostly on the area that rests on your lap when you play and the first 2 frets on the neck. There are no cracks or major blemishes. Some of the metal has general corrosion and the nut has to be replaced to get the strings properly off the fret. It plays good and with a new nut would be a great vintage guitar to play. It looks like the previous owner stuck a piece of paper in there 60 years ago to prop the strings up and then let it sit in the case. The inlays are still very vivid in color. No one has played this in 60 years. Plays Well All Original!
