$ 2,000.00

The GA-77 model number was in use from 1954-1961. Gibson made two different versions of the original GA-77 - the early one was made from 1954-1958 is very rare and had the most desirable (and influential) 7-tube circuit. The final version was a "tweed" covered amp with a 6-tube layout. This one is the rare 7-tube version with the "high gain" channel! The tube layout is 12ay7, 12ay7, 6SL7, 6J5, 6L6GA, 6L6GA, 5V4G. Only about 785 GA-77 amps were produced with the early preamp circuit between 1954 and 1958. Shipping Totals: 1954: 147, 1955: 247, 1956: 136, 1957: 112, 1958: 143

Vox later used the GA-70 and GA-77 high gain channel's preamp circuits in their design of the AC-30, right down to a "mistake" in the Bass control! Read more about that here: http://www.blueguitar.org/new/articles/other/topboost.pdf

This example has had a very recent, complete servicing. (See pics for a copy of the receipt detailing work done.) It's had a cap job, new power tubes, bias and full check up. It has a completely clean bill of health is is ready to rock....and rock it does! The GA77 is considered one of the Holy Grail amps of harmonica players and guitar players alike. It has an amazing touch response and early breakup ideal for blues and rock.
