1983 Fender Concert 210 Combo Amp *Rivera Era Hand-wired*
$ 800.00
This is one of the last hand-wired PTP amps built by Fender. It was designed by Paul Rivera, who went on to create Rivera Amplification. These early 80s Rivera Fenders such as the Concert II, Princeton II, the Twin Reverb II, Deluxe Reverb II, and the Super Champ are already collectible and are considered some of Fender's finest amps of the past 30 years. They were designed as a way to salvage Fender's reputation and to compete head to head with the insurgent high gain and boutique market represented by the likes of Mesa Boogie, and as such, these will eat your run of the mill Silverface Fender amp for breakfast and ask for seconds.
The Concert was built in two versions - a 112 and a 210. This is the 210 version. It's 2 Channels, footswitchable. Powered by 2x6L6s. Channel one has that classic Fender clean that sounds like a serenade of cherubs. The high gain channel has the potential for face-melting levels of tube gain. Channel two actually has a Volume, Gain, AND Master Volume! This means you can dial in serious preamp and power tube saturation at reasonable volumes. This channel also has a three band EQ section with a push/pull Mid Boost, which takes you effortlessly into overdriven HiWatt or Marshall territory if desired, or at modest gain levels will make your Strat Spank and your Tele quack.
Both channels share a Reverb and Presence control.
Turning the amp around, the speakers are one Eminence Patriot 75W Copperhead and one Eminence 35W Legend 1028K. This speaker compliment sounds fantastic. There is also an effects look with adjustable input and output gain. TIP: This effects look can be jumpered with a short cable and used as a boost! There is also a direct line out for recording or live mixing.
Here are some videos showing a 112 version. Watch them all to get a sense of how versatile this amp is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4LRByk3S7A&list=PL9811D83190534692&feature=plpp_play_all
Condition-wise, there is one small tear in the grill cloth on the front near the on/off switch, and one or two tiny dings in the tolex, but other than that, this thing is in excellent cosmetic condition. It was also just serviced by John Thornburg of River City Amps, who is our local guru, so it's got a totally clean bill of health electronically.
I encourage you to research these amps, read the online reviews, and don't let this one pass you by.
