c.1933 Dobro Model 19 Round-Neck Resonator w/ Case
$ 780.00
In about 1932, the Dopyera Brothers began outsourcing much of their guitar body building to Regal of Chicago. They would order the bodies from Chicago, which were then shipped out to California for assembly. The finished guitars were largely being shipped right back to distributors in Chicago. The Dopeyra Brothers realized this was not very efficient and so began licensing Regal to build the entire instruments. Regal built many models simultaneously with the Californian models.
This particular one is the Model 19, evidenced by its Slotted Headstock w/ Rounded routes, painted binding, and Poinsettia resonator cover plate.
This instrument is a joy to play. It's entirely original other than a bone saddle. The original maple saddle was a chewed up mess when I got it, so I replaced it with a bone one. I also set it up and adjusted the action.
It comes with a nice semi-hard Alvarez case with a built-in hygrometer.
