This mandolin definitely lives up to its "Masterbilt" designation... The build quality is easily on par with equivalent Gibsons from the era. The wood quality is also top notch - fine grain spruce for the top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge. "Vintage" is an apt descriptor in more ways than one. It resonates very sweetly and the tone has mellowed like a fine wine. You'll find yourself sipping its overtones with your pinky out, trying to identify the kind of dirt in which the trees it's crafted from were planted.

It is in wonderful condition for its age. Of course, there is an occasional ding, most notably near the bass side F hole and on the back of the neck joint, but nothing major at all. I see some evidence of an old seam separation on the headstock where the wings of the headstock are glued onto the center piece that was repaired probably long ago and is stable. It is all original. I am also including a very old, vintage electric transducer saddle so you can electrify it easily without any modification.

If you've been looking for a cool, collectible, vintage players mandolin...here ya go.
