1940's Epiphone Electar Double-8 Lap Steel Guitar
$ 825.00
Description: 1940's Epiphone Electar Double-8 Lap Steel Guitar
Condition: 100% Original. The double binding is completely crumbling off, and needs to be replaced. Pickups have a high ohm reading and low output. For these reasons, the guitar is being sold AS-IS. Laminate body has scratches, dings, and finish cracks, though overall looks quite nice. Electronics and controls are original and in working condition (except the pickups). Pickup selector switch travels freely through all positions, though stays in place and transmits the proper pickup signal. This is a great project guitar for someone with binding work experience.
Body/Necks: Laminate double bound maple body with original bridge, pickups, pickup covers, controls, electronics, fingerboards and tuning machines. Each fingerboard is black with raised frets, and art deco style raised inlays.
Pickups/Electronics: Original single coil pickups with master volume control, master tone control, and a 2-way pickup selector switch with settings for Neck 1, and Neck 2. Neck 1 pickup: 31.8K Ohms. Neck 2 pickup: 31.8K Ohms.
Set Up/Inspection: Professionally inspected and set up by our guitar tech with D'Addario .012 - .070 Pro Steel Strings.
Weight: 14lbs, 3.0oz.
Playability/Sound: This lap steel has the ability to produce sounds ranging from considerably bright with plenty of twang, to very warm and mellow, yet round and defined. Simple easy to use design. The pickups could be changed out, though they still have some notable character. With binding replaced, this will be a great playing, great looking lap steel.
Case: Includes original hard shell case.
