Oh, that almost made me cry. In so many interviews over the years, Mr. Frampton has told the sad story of the storied Comes Alive cover Les Paul. This is unbelievable.

Hey John, thanks for the great review of Devi's Get Free album, and for posting our new live video! Vintage Guitar readers can download the album FREE here.

As for the video, there's a six-minute guitar solo starting around 3:30 - I have NO idea how that happened!

Former Devi bassist Dan Grennes has indeed left on the national tour for Green Day's American Idiot show. We wish him much punk rockness on the road! We're working on new songs with Kevin Hummel on bass - who happens to be Devi drummer John Hummel's brother! Stay tuned...

Excellent use of what is most likely very solid and was from old growth Spruce (I recall the pictures of logging in the early days, huge two man/person saws, horses, floating logs in rivers (if possible), trains, Just as recycling wood from what were once grand homes in NYC and elsewhere there is a chance to let decimated forests re build and regrow, and with Conservation , Acoustics and solid body guitars and semi-hollow body guitars can use some Fine wood. Bravo!

The original Guild Company started in Westerly, Rhode Island. I purchased a D-50 back in the mid-1980's for about $700, shortly before Fender bought out the company and moved production to Arizona (I believe). Build quality of the Guilds that Fender produced was not up to the standards of the original company. Occasionally, I would see the "newer" Guilds in guitar shops and consider myself lucky that I had purchased mine before the buy-out.
I have since seen Guilds that looked like the quality had greatly improved, but I'm not sure if Fender still owns them.
I do know that my Guild D-50 is a sweet prize. Anytime I play it people comment on its great tone and it only gets better with age. And what an investment! The selling price is now three times what I paid! Would I ever sell it? No.
 Thanks for the article.

In 1966 I had the choice of a NEW solid state (!) Vox Essex Bass Amp with two 12" speakers for $399 full list, OR a left-over tube-powered model with more power and a single 15" woofer, reduced almost by half to the same $399 to move it out.

I took the solid state one, and it gigged flawlessly for a couple of years, 'til I sold it. History has since shown that cool-running transistors are THE way to go for bass applications, but it would be cool to have that head-and-cab combo today!

Interesting. I'd like to see this Video. Also, they should have given Billy Gibbons the "4th dimensional artist award."

I own a Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin (a just like the acoustic archtop with the addition of a single coil pickup in the neck position).
What a sweet guitar! Friendly, playable, hard to put down. I am very impressed with the 5th ave line and image the CW is a joy as well.
