Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, John 5, Billy Sheehan, and other musicians rallied to jam at The Benefit for Tony MacAlpine, December 12 at the Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles. MacAlpine was recently diagnosed with colon cancer not long after his wife received a diagnosis of stage four breast cancer. The event raised money to help the family.

“It is with happiness and love to all that I express my deep love and admiration for each and every one of you who supported me in this fight,” said MacAlpine. “The thought of so much positive energy in one room for that moment was immensely moving – it’s hard to balance my thoughts because I could not be there to thank you all in person. But, I know the gift of music is a powerful force and this night was testament to that. I will never forget the amazing contributions you made with music gifts, donations, and talent.”

“It was a gorgeous success,” said Vai. “The performers were resonating in their highest good-vibes frequency and it was enjoyed by all. We need Tony to regain his health and get back to sharing his extraordinary gifts.”

“I was pleased to be able to join so many great players,” added Sheehan. “Tony is a supreme talent, wonderful human being, and my dear, dear friend. All of us onstage and the dozens who made the show possible are pulling for his recovery. It was a magical night and a wonderful show.”
